Well, last Friday I watched the series finale of “Smallville”, and I must say I’m sorry to see it go. Oh, I’ve had my exceptions with the show’s sort of back handed references to Christian prophesy and icons, but I can’t think of a single evangelist which I agree with completely either. Overall, I’ve found the show to be quite entertaining and I’ll probably miss it. Yet, it ended well, however sad some of the elements of its ending were. The final metamorphosis from “the blur” to Superman was amazing, but Lex’s accepting himself as a villain took my emotions to the other side of the spectrum. I knew it was a necessary part to the building of the Superman saga, but it broke my heart when Clark told him, “I’m sorry I couldn’t save you.”
When you get right down to it, only one person is really capable of saving the entire world. That is the True Savior, The Lord Jesus Christ. And yet, He leaves the decision up to us. He won’t force us into the Kingdom of Heaven. Salvation is a Free Gift which we must accept to receive.
